Although it is still cold and rainy here in Portland, we have had a few nice sunny days which have provided enough warmth for the daffodils and hyacinths to start popping up in my garden. The sight of these lovely flowers makes me long for Spring. Being a native of California, march is about the time it starts to warm up. This is definitely not the case here in Portland. Yet, despite the dreary weather I have started scouring the web for new Spring kit. When warmer temperatures hit, I spend most of my free time running around the playground or kicking back at one of the many public fountains around town. Often, I am covered in either grass, sand, and quite frequently ice cream. Other times, I am completely drenched as my kids love to run through any water feature we may encounter in our daily adventures. Hence, my warm weather gear is usually a hodgepodge of staple items I already own mixed in with more moderately priced items I pick up at local chain stores. So, today I am dedicating my post to my favorite picks $50 and under - as we all now you can still look chic no matter what your budget may be.

First and foremost a great bag is essential - and I love the look of a straw bag. It reminds of the beach and is durable and fashionable for day use. The one below from J Crew would be perfect as it pretty works into just about any outfit.

I am not always in my element when it comes to short shorts but a combo of a tailored short and a soft and breezy top is something I could definitely see myself in this Spring. The lantern sleeves on this blouse are so fresh and who could resist the soft ruffling on the front. I'd glam this up with a great pair of jeweled sandals like the one's shown below - a great addition to your wardrobe as they could easily be dressed up or down.

Outfit #2 - Perfect for a day at the park

I love the look of nautical stripes with dark denim and the outfit shown below is a perfect combination of the two. The denim jumpsuit looks super loungy and comfortable and the pleated bib on the front completely ups the cute factor. The striped sweater with it's ruffle detailing is the perfect complement - girly and fun. Last but not least - a simple chocolate brown flip flop completes the look. Poof! You're all set for a day of play.

Outfit #3 - Lunch then zoo with hubby and the kids

A mini skirt and soft tank are a great combo for a busy day. I'd also add a scarf to jazz up this ensemble. Scarves are a great way to liven up any outfit, I usually have one of my trusty pashminas wrapped around my neck but when the weather warms up I'd like to add a lighter weight version like the one below to my collection. Shoes? A studded gladiator is a perfect choice to complete the look.
