As you may or may not know, I am working on a children's clothing line set to launch this August. In researching for the line - I have gone back and forth in regards to price points for my line. I like, many other parents prefer not to pay higher prices for children's fashions - they grow out of them so quickly and often they get thrashed at school. Therefore, I tend to shop chain stores for the basics: denim, T's, and other basics. I then fill in the holes with boutique items - my weaknesses being boutique dresses and coats. Obviously I pay more for the boutique items but feel these are worth the additional cost as often these pieces are more unique and are often of better quality. As far as retail price points - I'd say my average purchases range between $10-$45 for basics and around $65 for a boutique item. So I ask, what are your price tolerances in terms of children's clothing?

I have been known to pay $30.00 plus for a Baby Rock tee, but I've only bought a few of those. I tend to stick to Gymboree, Old Navy and Children's Place for the basics, which are in the $5.oo-35.oo range And brands like Charlie Rocket and Rabbit Moon for special pieces, but I have to say most of the time I find these on sale. Since he's a boy, I think my price tolerance is lower. If he was a girl I might be in trouble. Ah ha.
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on the line. That is so fabulous! Is it for both genders?
ReplyDeleteThe line will be girl's only to start but who knows - maybe someday I'll be able to add a boys line as well.
