Tory Burch Sale Part 2

Posted by Posh Mommy

So, when I posted about the Tory Burch Sale - I failed to mention that my hubs and I had agreed to a 1 month spending embargo scheduled to end Friday July 3.  So, making any purchases at the Tory sale would have indeed been breaking the pact - and I was so very close to the goal. However, after careful deliberation I am sure you can guess what happened.  Yes, I am indeed a traitor!!  I bought two cardigans am so very glad I did.  At full price these two pieces would have cost me $525 and I picked them up for a mere $163.  My guilty conscience is appeased by the happy cries of my wallet!

My two picks...

The Verbena Cardigan pictured below - now sold out in my size!

I also purchased a Simone Cardigan in the print shown below - this item is sold out completely on the Tory Burch site and I can't find it anywhere on line.  So yeah for getting it before it was totally gone!!

Tory Burch Sale!!

Posted by Posh Mommy

Just a quick post - Tory Burch Online is offering an additional 25% off all sale items.  As I am sure many of you I am a huge Tory Burch fan.  I love her classically cooly style, cleans lines, fresh colors, and fun prints.  Preppy but with an edge. I am watching my spending this month as it is a big month for the business but I can assure you my virtual shopping cart is over flowing with goodies.  I am testing my will power today - maybe if I only purchase half the items in my cart?

Happy Weekend Dear Readers - Back Monday!

Cool Product of the Day

OMG - this is so supremely cool!!  I seem to find all my Cool Product Picks at Giggle - but what can I say they've got it going on.  The Alma Crib is perfect for confined spaces - use it as a bassinet alternative or perhaps in your work office.  I know, my friends in London would swooned over this piece where the average living space is just shy of 900 square feet (it is a two story house). Plus not only is it totally functional but so stylish as well.  Style and function, who could ask for anything more.

Modeling - Yay or Nay

Posted by Posh Mommy

On a whim I submitted pics of my girls to a local talent scout - they seem reputable (I did my research) and they have supplied models for a few events I have worked on.  I didn't really think anything would come out of it but we received a call and they want to sign both my girls.  To be totally honest, it is pretty exciting!  As a parent we all think our child is the most gorgeous creature known to man so it is flattering that others also are somewhat enchanted. However, as we have gotten closer to the meeting date I have had a few concerns.  Obviously, I would never push my girls into doing anything they did not enjoy.  So, if the they were offered some work and hated it - then the whole deal would be off immediately.

Yet, the real concern is - am I sending the right message to my children.  They are young so perhaps it is a bit too early to worry about body image and such.  However, I do not want them to be too focused on looks and beauty especially at such a young age.  The teenage years are brutal enough, right?  Am I over-analyzing this?  I mean, they are kids not super models.  I'd love to hear your feedback on this subject.  We meet with the agent on Monday.

PS - The pic below was one that was submitted to the talent rep.  Isn't she sweet?

Tag Your It

Posted by Posh Mommy

Hip, hip, Hooray!  The lovely Kristin over at Bon Bon Rose was so kind to award me with my first tag and along with it a caboodle of awards and challenges.  Seriously, before Posh Mom I never knew how social the blogging sphere could be.  So thanks Kristin, for opening my eyes to it all!!  It has been a busy time for the Posh Mommy - so, over the next few weeks I will be responding to each award separately.  To get a sneak peek at all the awards Kristin bestowed click here.

First Up - The Honest Scrap Award.  The purpose: to let you in on 10 things you might not know about me.  And we're off.

1.  I met my husband in New Orleans at Mardi Gras!!  That's right folks - the Mardi Gras who knew a college party trip would lead to "Happily Ever After".  By the way - that was almost a blissful 10 years ago.

2.  I am anal about closet organization!  My clothes are organized by style then by color.  Shoes kept in their boxes and organized by brand, bags all stuffed with tissue and housed in dust bags.

3.  The name of my soon to be launched girl's line - is Little Pea.

4.  I watch all the CW teeny bopper shows online after my hubs goes to sleep - Gossip Girl, The New 90210, Privileged.  Shhhh...don't tell him, okay?

5.  I am a work-a-holic and often don't know when to say when.  It's not uncommon for my vendors to get emails from me after 1 am.

6.  I furrow my eye brow when I am stressed (which lately seems quite often) and it is resulting in a fine vertical line in my forehead!  Yikes - pass the wrinkle cream pronto.

7.  I am 1/2 Filipino and 1/2 Chinese - and always dreamed of marrying a  blond haired, blue eyed hottie.  The result, gorgeous happa kids!!

8.  I live vicariously (at times) through my 26 year old hipster sister.  I love hearing about her life, loves, and general dramas.  Keeps me in the mix, you know?  (Love you Sis!!)

9.  My dad is my hero - enough said.

10.  For years, I was one of those closet blog readers.  Always reading, never commenting - but now I appreciate each and every reader who takes the time to post a comment or send me an email.  So thanks to all of you for opening my eyes to all that blogging has to offer!!

Patouche

Posted by Posh Mommy

I first came across  Patouche when reading a post over at the Bloesem Kids blog - which by the way is absolutely fabulous - add it to your daily blog read list immediately!!

But back to Patouche, I love the heirloom look and feel of the collection.  The styles have a definite vintage appeal, but maintain a sense of timelessness that is hard to find in children's apparel.  A few of my favorite pieces are below.

I adore this poncho - unfortunately it has been sold.  It is such a fresh approach to the Little Red Riding Hood theme but without seeming contrived.  I would pair this with indigo skinny jeans and ballet flats - for a modern look.

How sweet is this little number?  It actually is designed to grow with the child.  Fits and 8 month old as a smock top - but as the child grows the straps can be adjusted to grow with the child up to 5 years.  So inventive!!

This little skirt is so adorable - loving the mix of florals and the large pocket detailing.  This piece would definitely work into your child's existing wardrobe.

Cute, Cute, cute!!  This capelet is a real gem - and look at those pom poms!!  Instantly dresses up a plain T.

For the boys - who could resist these flannel pirate caps?

The current collection is available for sale on Etsy click here for the link.  Check out the full line immediately!  You'll be glad you did!

You Thoughts?

Posted by Posh Mommy

Hi there - it's a quick post today but I am reaching out for some parenting advice and I would love to hear your thoughts on this....

As you all know I have 2 daughters, my eldest who will be 4 has made several friends in the neighborhood who regularly knock on our door for impromptu play dates.  My neighbor regularly watches her great-grand-daughter (we'll call her Amy) who is 6 she and my daughter get along and play well together.  However, yesterday when I went outside to check on them Amy announced that they were at a bar, she was smoking (she had a stick dangling from her lips) and Byronie was drinking a beer.  Now, I would not call myself a prude and I certainly enjoy a cold Corona on a hot day.  But - playing "bar" does not mesh with what I would call appropriate play for a child.  In response to Amy - I suggested they play something else like house, beauty parlor, or pretend they were in a cafe.  My question for all of you is how would you handle this?  Amy is out of school for the Summer and will most likely be ringing my doorbell regularly over the Summer holiday.

Just a note - I considered confronting Amy's parents.  Her father is a nice chap (parents are no longer together) but I see the mother drinking and smoking in the yard quite often so not sure if she would share my concerns.  Am I over-reacting?  Your thoughts, please!

What I Want Now - For My Kids

Posted by Posh Mommy

I love, love, love boutique lines when it comes to children's fashions (and adult fashion to). These lines sometimes tend to be pricier, yes - but I feel the originality you find in boutique lines is often worth the occasional splurge.  I tend to buy a few favorite pieces on the higher end and mix it up with denim, leggings, and T's that I pick up on sale from the Gap.   Hey, it all evens out, right?  A few of my current top boutique picks are below.

I am swooning over the outfit below by Oeuf - totally loving the combination of the floral print skirt with the stripes.  So chic - to view details click here.

The cheap thrill of this post - Saltwater Sandals!!  At a moderate price point of $35 they are totally affordable I am especially taken with the magenta and yellow versions.  My girls already have the floral version which looks oh so cute with denim.

Rooster is a new brand for me - I have yet to see it in Portland but am digging this yellow shift dress.  How cute would this look with the yellow Saltwater sandals shown above and a denim jacket.

Cool Product of the Day

Posted by Posh Mommy

Image: Giggle

I am sure many of you know, I love to browse the Giggle website.  I have found many a cool product on this site - as I find their assortment innovative, fresh, and design savvy.  While checking out the latest offerings I stumbled upon the Design Your T-Shirt kit.  The kit includes 10 colored markers and paper (all the tools your little artist will need to bring their masterpiece to life.  Once completed choose a tee from the catalog and send in their artwork in the prepaid envelope.  Voila - your child has created wearable art.  What a great project, I know my older daughter would love this.  I also noticed in the review section - someone had purchased 6 of these for a 5 year olds birthday party - themeing the event a Make Your Own Tee party (how cute).  Each child was given a kit- and the a activity became the focal point of the party as well as the favor.  Hmmm - could be a great idea for my daughter's September birthday party.  Food for thought....

What, What, What?!

I just logged on to the blog and realized I have not posted since last Wednesday.  I don't know where the weeks go, seems they fly by in a blur of fabric swatches, vendor contracts, and photo contact sheets. The launch of my children's clothing line is quickly approaching and I have been completely absorbed.  I promise to get back to regular posting very soon.  So - in lieu of what I call a "real" post - in other words something which actually pertains to style, fashion, design, etc. I am going to post a picture of myself with my darling girls - just in case any of you were wondering. ;-)

Thanks for putting up with me....

This Just In - Stella MCartney for Gap

Posted by Posh Mommy

Image: Mario Madeira

I just read that Stella McCartney and GAP will be launching a collection set to launch in November 2009.  Like any trend following fashionista, I have long admired Stella McCartney; not only for her keen fashion sense and talent but also for her commitment to causes close to her heart such as cancer research and PETA.  She clearly is a passionate individual and it certainly can be seen in her work.  I can't wait to see what she has lined up - considering the partnership is with GAP I am thinking clean separates perhaps in organics?  Who knows, but whatever she dreams up I do not doubt it will please her loyal followers who I am sure will be lined up in droves to dress their mini me's in a little Stella.

Cheap Thrills

Posted by Posh Mommy

It has been one of those months for me - you know, the one's where you just don't seem to have too much on the disposable income front.  My business is in the launching stage - which translates to - eats up all the disposable income and produces none.  It's an investment in my future and I am lucky to have the opportunity to pursue my dream.  However, this venture has definitely tapped into the family coffers.  What to do if you are feeling brassic?  Hop onto your favorite discount fashion sites for some cheap thrills.  For me, I head over to Forever 21.  I usually try and avoid buying to much cheap fashion - I find the items fall apart and do not wash well.  However, sometimes you just need a little retail therapy.   The items I selected below would cost a whooping $56.10 definitely affordable even in these times of modest spending.

I'd pair this tank with denim, - add a great bag and shoes and you'll never know it wasn't a Splendid T.

Same goes for these cute skinny jeans - I have been wanting to get some colored denim but am not willing to fork out for designer denim.  These are a perfect solution to my dilemma and a great way to test the waters.

Easy to wear and so light weight for those hot summer days.  I love the deep purple color!  I could par this with white skinny jeans and maybe gold sandals?

Very Herve Leger - a black mini is always a useful Summer item.  Skimpy on the bottom cries out for a loose fitting top - to keep it modest.  I'd pair this with a gray loose fitting tank, denim jacket, and a great pair of gladiators.

Coat Lust Part 2

Posted by Posh Mommy

The Summer weather is finally upon us here in Portland and I am already lusting over Fall Ready to Wear.  Pre-Fall has hit the web and my heart has gone pitter patter over the little number shown below.  As I have previously noted here I have a thing for coats.  I see them as investment pieces and as I have gotten older I definitely have started to look at items in terms of cost per wear.  A coat like this one by Burberry would be a cold weather staple items for many years to come.  My pocket book is in pain just thinking of the price - $1195 but perhaps if I start saving now I will be able to afford this by Fall.

I Want, I Want, I Want

Posted by Posh Mommy

I have always been a fan of Kate Spade - her designs are always classic but with a bit of quirkiness.  A pop of color, a fun or unexpected icon - bold, fresh, and fun.  Over the past few years, I have noticed a few pieces of apparel being added to the collection.  Now it seems, Kate Spade is offering a complete line. I checked out the line on the website and I am smitten - especially with the blouses.   I like to consider my style classic with a modern twist.  I am small in stature, so tailored and clean lines work best.  I live in T's or variations there of and am always on the lookout for more tailored tops; however, I often find these items conservative and frankly a bit stuffy.  I was pleased as punch when I discovered the items below.  With the launch of my brand quickly approaching I will need to add a few work appropriate pieces to my wardrobe.  Any of the pieces below would work perfectly with my existing wardrobe.  Paired with dark indigo skinny jeans or black skinny trousers, add a blazer, and pair of heels and poof call it a day.

I would so wear the outfit below - exactly as it is styled.

Probably my favorite item - I adore the fringed neckline and the bubble gum pink color is divine.  This would look fabulous with black skinny capris and ballet flats.

Yuma Suzi Top - $195

We all know I love ruffles and navy is such classy alternative to basic black.  I'd pair this with white denim trouser style or skinny.

Very Audrey Hepburn - I really like the slightly asymmetrical neckline and oversized bow.  This could be hard for me to pull off, but I might have to pop by the store and give it a whirl.

Now if I could only figure out how to afford all of these....

Busy Bee

Posted by Posh Mommy

Just a quick note, that Posh Mommy programing might be a bit touch and go this week.  I am again running against a deadline for the launch of my clothing line.  I have spent the last few weeks in photo sessions, meeting with web developers, graphic artists, proofing copy, editing and retouching images, and generally prepping for the show I am attending this August.  Plus, my husband is out of town.  Needless to say, I am a little stretched this week.  I will do my best to get posts up regularly but just in case you were wondering....

In writing this post - I got to thinking how other mommies manage work and home life. Any tips for a multitasking mom?  Hit me up.

Budget Style - Crazy 8

Posted by Posh Mommy

My last few blog posts in regards to kiddie fashion have been on the high end - so I am going to bring it down to the average consumer level (you know, where most of us live) and offer some options for reality.  When searching out cute and affordable fashions I usually hit the mall - chain stores are a great source to find stylish fashions at everyday prices.  Crazy 8 is one of my favorite destinations - the prices are moderate and the sales fantastic.  I often will find pieces for $10 and under.  I pulled a few outfits from their current line offerings - sorry, only girl's today.  I was a little uninspired by the boy's selection.

Too cute, who could resist a little lady in red? I might have to pick up those sandals for my daughter's.  Click here for details.

A great play outfit - love the dots and stripes together.  Click here for details.

This cute little number just got marked down.  The dress is on sale for $12.99.  Unfortunately, the sandal is out of stock but this piece could easily be styled with a white or pastel colored sandal - something most tots already own.

Check out My Ride

Posted by Posh Mommy

Wishbone 3 in 1 Bike

If you didn't already know, I have 2 little girls.  Byronie will be 4 in September and my baby, Holland is 1.5 - well, Byronie recently got her first big girl bike.  A pink Trek Bike, fully kitted out with basket, bells, and streamers on the handle bars.  My sweet hubby, decided that Holland should also get a new bike and we found and purchased the sweet little ride shown above.  The Wishbone 3 in 1 Bike seems to be the premier convertable bike on the market, it starts out as a 3 wheel trike and can then be reconfigured into 2 different sized running bikes - allowing the child to use the bike from age 1-5 years.  My husband and I really liked the idea of a running bike vs a tricycle - mostly for the balance aspect.  I see toddlers whizzing around on these and their balance is amazing!  I would assume transitioning from one of these to a two wheeler would be a piece of cake.  In addition, to the multi functionality of this bad boy the Wishbone is also produced from envirnomentally sustainable materials - great design, fabulous functionality, and green.  Seriously, who could ask for anything more.
